Nintendo’s Super Mario Run to enter the Google Play Store this month ending

Last
 year during the Apple iPhone 7 launch, September 7 to be precise, 
Nintendo’s CEO joined on the stage along with Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple
 to announce the company’s partnership with Apple. Nintendo’s Shigeru 
Miyamoto took the stage to announce that Apple’s iOS would be first 
mobile platform to get the Super Mario Run app which is a mobile game 
same as the Classic Mario.<br />
There were many rumors after the event as 
well as afterwards as to when the Super Mario Run app will launch on 
Android. There were speculations that the app could launch in January, 
2017 on the Google Play Store but that didn’t happen. Instead, Nintendo 
released the Play Store listing of the app as ‘coming soon’.<br />

This also 
increased the anxiety in the Mario fans on Android that the app is going
 to launch soon. The Play Store listing is already live and there is an 
option to “pre-register” so that the user gets notified as soon as the 
app gets launched.<br />

Today,
 we have got official news straight from the lion’s mouth i.e obviously 
Nintendo. Nintendo USA’s Twitter account revealed the much-anticipated 
launch date of the famous Super Mario Run app on the Google Play Store.<br />
<br />
The
 Tweet mentions that the Android Version will be available on 23 March 
as the version 2.0.0 update while version 1.0 has not launched yet so 
the app is expected to directly jump to version 2.0. Also worth noting 
is that when the iPhone version of the Super Mario Run app launched, it 
had a free tag to it so that all the iPhone users could try the app but 
the app had some subscription-based system which was a one-time purchase
 of $9.99. This was a controversial decision on Nintendo’s part but the 
app got great success even with this restriction.<br />

There are news that the
 same model of the app launching free on the Play Store with a 
subscription of the $9.99 could be continued on the Google Play Store as

Motorola
 has had a rollercoaster ride in the smartphone industry. From being the
 pioneer of mobile phones and boeing swept out of the market, it has 
faced it all. The company has had a shady past, first acquired by Google
 and then acquired by Lenovo. The company now has the Moto E, Moto G, 
Moto M and Moto Z lines, the Moto Z being the flagship smartphone from 
Moto. Now, the Moto Z 2017 has been spotted in leaked renders on Weibo.<br />
<br />
As
 can be seen from the render, then design looks quite familiar. It 
features a large display with a fingerprint sensor at the bottom chin of
 the device. It remains unclear whether the fingerprint sensor doubles 
as a home button. The Moto branding can be found on the front.<br />
<br />
The
 front facing camera of the Moto Z 2017 can be found on the top left 
corner of the device while interestingly, a front facing flash can be 
found on the right corner of the device.<br />

The usual stuff like the volume rockers and the power button can be found on the right of the device.<br />
Another image featuring a “<strong>Gamepad Moto Mod</strong>” confirms the Moto Z render. The Gamepad Moto Mod looks really cool and transforms the Moto Z into a proper gaming device.<br />
<br />
However,
 at the moment we are not sure if the phone showcased above is the Moto 
Z, or the Moto Z Force or the Moto Z Play. However all the three phones 
will likely carry a similar design.<br />
The smartphone is expected to 
sport a 5.5 inch Quad-HD display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 
835 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 835 chipset is the 
current top of the line processor from Qualcomm.<br />
<br />
Clearly, 
Moto(Lenovo) is trying to play to safe this year and it not going for 
any new and drastic change in the name of “innovation”. Considering that
 the software on Moto phones are pretty light weight and the top notch 
specs the smartphone packs, the Moto Z should perform exceedingly well.<br />
The new Moto Z is expected to be released sometime around June this year.<br />

Telltale announced that it was making a <em>Guardians of the Galaxy</em>
 game last year at the 2016 Game Awards, and today we’re finally getting
 our first look at what that will actually look like. Unfortunately, 
that comes in the form of some screenshots of the game, not an actual 
trailer, but we’ll take what we can get for now. </div>

As expected, <em>Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series </em>will
 feature the five main members of the Guardians from Marvel’s first 
movie, Star-Lord (voiced by Scott Porter here), Gamora (Emily O’Brien), 
Rocket Raccoon (Nolan North), Drax the Destroyer (Brandon Paul Eells), 
and Groot (Adam Harrington). </div>

Like Telltale’s earlier adaptations of <em>Batman</em> and <em>The Walking Dead</em><em>,</em> expect <em>Guardians of the Galaxy </em>to
 be an interactive narrative with player choices dramatically effecting 
how the game plays out. Although given the franchise’s history, there 
will probably be a whole lot more snarky humor and ‘80s music than <em>The Walking Dead</em>.</div>

Telltale will be announcing more details on <em>Guardians of the Galaxy </em>at a panel at PAX East tomorrow, and will show off an early version of the first episode of the title at SXSW next week. </div>

As expected, <em>Guardians of the Galaxy </em>will 
continue Telltale’s trend of breaking up the story into five episodes, 
the first of which is planned for release in the spring — just in time 
for the upcoming release of Marvel’s <em>Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2</em> movie. </div>

Microsoft today announced a new initiative to let any game developer 
create and sell games on its Xbox platform without having to go through 
any of the company’s preexisting channels. The <a href="https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/games/xbox/xboxlive/creator">Xbox Live Creators Program</a>, as it’s called, is designed to let an indie team or solo developer take a retail Xbox, which doubles as a dev kit,
 and use it to create and self-publish the title to the Xbox 
marketplace. Prior to today, developers had to part of an established 
game development or media company, or they had to apply through 
Microsoft’s ID@Xbox indie game program to receive self-publishing 
capabilities.<br />

That are a couple of stipulations involved with the new 
program, which remains in a preview stage for now until it opens up to 
the general public soon. For one, the game you’re making must be a 
Universal Windows App, so that it can run on any Windows 10 device and 
not simply the Xbox One. Microsoft also reserves the right to remove 
your game from the store if it has “harmful or inappropriate content,” 
as the company won’t be binding any devs with nondisclosure agreements 
or concept approvals. </div>

The program isn’t free. There’s a one-time fee to that 
ranges from $20 to $100, and it’s unclear right now how Microsoft plans 
on charging some developers more or less than others. Even then, unless a
 developer joins the ID@Xbox program, they won’t be able to enable 
online multiplayer for the Xbox version of the game or access the Xbox 
achievements feature. The Creators Program does let you still access 
Xbox’s leaderboards and party chat features. In one potential downside, 
games listed through the program will be kept in a separate section of 
the Xbox Store, which could limit their exposure to reach as wide an 
audience as ID@Xbox titles. </div>

For the past couple of years, HTC and Valve’s virtual 
reality efforts — which produced the HTC Vive in 2015 — have seemed 
largely interchangeable. But Valve’s SteamVR platform isn’t limited to 
one manufacturer. Earlier this week, LG and Valve introduced a competing
 headset with many of the Vive’s features — but a few serious design 
tweaks.</div>

Currently, LG’s headset is a development kit, which the 
company says will be going out to developers in the next few weeks. This
 means that its design isn’t final, although it seems far from a rough 
first effort. The headset uses a single 3.64-inch LG screen with 2560 x 
1440 resolution, or 1280 x 1440 pixels per eye. That’s the same 
resolution as the Gear VR, and slightly more than the Rift or Vive, 
which both have 1080 x 1200 per eye. Its field of view is comparable to 
the Rift and Vive’s 110 degrees. It’s tracked with the same laser 
“lighthouses” as the Vive, and uses a very similar controller.</div>

The headset’s frame, however, is a lot more like the 
<a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/03/playstation-vr-aim-gun-controller-for.html" target="_blank">PlayStation VR</a>. It’s a ring that fits over the forehead and is tightened
 on the back, similar to a hard hat. A second band around the headset is
 supposed to balance its weight. While I can’t pin down exactly why, 
though, it didn’t feel nearly as comfortable as the PlayStation VR, and 
the screen felt like it was at the wrong distance from my eyes, even 
after adjustments. It wasn’t even as comfortable as the Vive’s new head strap, which is a vast improvement over its predecessor.</div>
The comfort level seems to be a matter of personal 
preference, and one developer I spoke to liked the LG headset’s screen 
distance far more than the Vive’s. But LG says that either way, it could
 change during the design process. It might also change the audio setup,
 which is currently a headphone jack stuck somewhat awkwardly on the 
side of the headset.<br />

LG’s headset <em>does </em>have one killer feature: you 
don’t have to take it all the way off to exit VR. The front of the 
headset actually flips up like a motorcycle helmet visor, completely 
clearing your field of view. LG isn’t the first to think of this — 
Lenovo’s upcoming Windows Holographic headset does <a href="https://www.cnet.com/news/lenovos-first-windows-vr-headset-goes-flip-up-mode-arrives-later-this-year-for-under-400/">the same thing</a>. But we haven’t yet tried a working prototype of Lenovo’s product, so we can’t vouch for its overall quality.</div>

Like the general hardware design, the controllers are 
good, but not great. They’ve got the same trackpad as the HTC Vive, 
which is excellent. The tracking ring at the top is square instead of 
round, which I was told gives better precision, although this was hard 
to discern in the demo. The menu buttons have been moved to the top, 
which means you can’t accidentally hit them with your thumb, like I did 
constantly with the Vive’s controller at first. (Granted, this problem 
melted away as I used the Vive more.) The whole thing still feels a 
little cheap compared to the Vive controllers, but it’s still not bad 
for a development kit.</div>

It’s a little worrying that a new headset is still using the Vive’s controller design, for one reason: Valve showed off a new, much cooler prototype
 last fall. Instead of using a somewhat clumsy grip button, that 
controller can detect when you open and close your hands, and we were 
hoping it would make an appearance at GDC. But if LG is working around 
the status quo, it’s possible we won’t see the new version for a while.</div>

Once you’re inside VR, LG’s screen looks no more or less 
grainy than most high-quality VR headsets. The environments themselves 
are crisp and responsive, and the lighthouse towers work as well as 
ever. As with the Vive, there’s a front-facing camera that can 
presumably show video from the real world, although I didn’t get to try 
it. Honestly, with the flip-up screen, I might not ever<em> </em>need it.</div>

This isn’t LG’s first foray into VR, and its last attempt
 — the mobile LG 360 VR — was mediocre. But LG says this is a completely
 separate effort, and there’s no reason to disbelieve that. Based on my 
very brief impressions, it could well match the Vive’s quality, putting 
it at the top of the current headset ecosystem. And both can pull from 
the same content libraries. For most people, that will mean Steam, but I
 also used the LG headset with HTC’s Vive app. In an interview earlier 
this week, Viveport president Rikard Steiber also confirmed that the 
HTC’s VR app store will not be exclusive to the Vive.</div>

If you have an HTC Vive already, there’s not a pressing 
reason to replace it with LG’s headset. It’s a variation on the same 
formula, not a next-generation successor. At the same time, it 
introduces some more competition into the current ecosystem, and further
 establishes Valve and HTC as independent players in VR. Also, because I
 can’t say it enough times: that flip-up screen is great.</div>

Sony's Aim Controller was originally supposed to launch around the holidays alongside <em>Farpoint</em>, a showcase FPS title. Well, now it's March and there's still no Aim Controller or <em>Farpoint</em> on shelves. At GDC this week, Impulse Gear, the developer of <em>Farpoint</em>, <a href="http://www.roadtovr.com/psvr-aim-controller-launches-farpoint-may-16th-co-op-confirmed/">confirmed to <em>Road to VR</em></a> that the game and controller will launch as a bundle on May 16th. Right now you can <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/games/farpoint-vr-with-aim-controller-bundle/136013">preorder the bundle at GameStop</a>, which shows an end of June release date, but hopefully Impulse Gear has better info.</div>

The controller itself is slick, minimal, and an ideal 
configuration for converting a standard dual-stick shooter into a VR 
game, with an analog stick for movement and a built-in color ball for 
1:1 aiming. Unfortunately, unlike the HTC Vive or a three-sensor Oculus 
Rift setup, there's no way right now for PlayStation VR to track a 
controller when you're turned away from the camera and are blocking that
 bright colorful tracking ball with your body, and <em>Farpoint</em> is 
designed with that limitation in mind. The game feels a bit like a 
compromise between a truly free-roaming FPS and a locked-in rail 
shooter.</div>

The Aim Controller also misses out on some the best possible shooting experiences in VR right now, such as <em>Superhot</em> and <em>Robo Recall</em>,
 which rely on dual motion controllers. Still, if you really want to 
shoot things the old-fashioned way, one gun at a time, it looks like you
 can get your hands on an Aim Controller and <em>Farpoint</em> bundle for $80 in May or maybe June.</div>

Motorola today announced the new Moto G5 and G5 Plus, but it also had 
some news for Moto Z owners. Motorola also committed to bringing 12 new 
Moto Mods every year as a part of its efforts to support the Moto Z and 
the Moto Z Play.<br />

Motorola, in an effort to keep on its words has unveiled new Moto 
Mods compatible with the Moto Z and the Moto Z Play. This Moto Mods 
include a Gamepad, Charging Adapter, Wireless charging Mod along with a 
Turbo charging Mod.<br />

 There is also a charging adapter so that the Mods can charge separate 
from a phone, a wireless charging mod, and a Turbo Charger mod. Finally,
 Motorola showed off Gamepad mod, with transforms your phone into 
something like a Gaming Console.<br />
There is also a Amazon Alexa Mod for the Moto Z devices which will be available later this year.<br />

Sony has announced today that, in 19 February, the company has 
sold about 915,000 PlayStation VR devices. Sony achived that number in 
only four months after launch. This number is actually surprising, 
according to the company itself. Before, Sony has only targeted the goal
 of selling 1 million VR devices by mid-April. Along with the number 
sold, the average number of hours played with the VR devices has also 
increased. A notable example is Resident Evil 7, which supported<a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/02/valve-promises-real-life-quality-sounds.html" target="_blank"> VR</a>, has
 its average playtime doubled. The game itself is set to sell 4 million copies on launch.<br />
<br />
This
 is a really promising sign for Sony. For now, we don’t have official 
data, but according to SuperData Research, the Occulus Rift has sold 
243,000, and 420,000 for the HTC Vive until the end of 2016 (both of 
these devices are launched at mid-2016). We can see that the PlayStation
<a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/02/valve-promises-real-life-quality-sounds.html" target="_blank"> VR</a> is doing significantly better than its competitors, by selling more 
in a shorter amount of time. This is definitely great news for Sony, as 
it was quite skeptical on entering the VR race before.<br />

One factor that makes the PlayStaiton VR more appealing compared to 
other competitors may be the price. The price of a PS4 Pro + PS VR set 
is definitely much cheaper than the price for a whole PC set and the 
additional VR devices such as the Rift or the Vive. Sony also said that 
the numbers could have been better. As said before, Sony was quite 
skeptical about the VR market, and did not plan to mass produce the VR. 
That has lead to shortages of supply on its home turf, Japan.<br />

PlayStation VR: Great start, hopeful future</h3>
With
 the statistics to back it up, the PlayStation VR can be an important

Valve is the co-producer of the Vive VR device with HTC. Recently, it
 has announced the Steam Audio. Through this software, VR content 
developers can enhance user experience by simulating sound effects in 
the most realistic way. The kit allows developers to generate binaural 
audio, which actually simulates how the body feels the sounds. However, 
it also allow the simulation of physical interaction between the sounds 
and the environment.<br />
<br />
For instance, if you are standing in a corner
 of a room (in the VR world of course), you will be able to feel the 
sounds ricocheting off the walls. Normally, these types of sound effects
 will be pre-recorded, making it sound unnatural in many instances. 
However, the Steam Audio kit allows physical calculations to simulate 
sounds in real-time and in the most accurate way possible. You can see 
the video below for how the software works.<br />

Valve is now offering the Steam Audio software free of charge. It is 
now compatible to games developed with engine Unity (like Mobius Final 
Fantasy, Pillar of Eternity, I Am Setsuna, etc.). The version compatible
 with engine Unreal 4 games (like Gears of War, Batman, Streetfighter, 
etc.) will be released in the near future. Something to note though, 
that the decision to use Steam Audio to enhance the sounds of VR games 
lies solely on the developers. Valve is just offering a solution.<br />

 what have been said, Steam Audio is surely an interesting tool, that 
can surely enhance the experience when playing VR games. Hopefully it

Nvidia released a new Game Ready graphics driver, which provides optimal day-one support for a handful of anticipated AAA games.

The new graphics driver (version 378.66) offers the best-possible 
gaming experience for the latest major game releases, including <em>Sniper Elite 4</em>, <em>For Honor</em>, and <em>Halo Wars 2</em>. Although we didn’t experience any graphics performance issues when <a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/02/googles-daydream-tends-to-display.html" target="_blank">we played the <em>For Honor</em> open beta</a> last week, the new driver brings official support to the melee combat game. <br />

The driver also features a new Video SDK (version 8.0), which 
supports high-bit-depth (10/12-bit) decoding with VP9/HEVC, OpenGL input
 support for encoder, weighted prediction, and several H.264 ME-only 
mode enhancements.<br />
<br />
There weren’t any SLI profiles added to the new driver, but <a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/02/googles-daydream-tends-to-display.html" target="_blank"><em>Sniper Elite 4</em></a> received a 3D Vision profile. However, Nvidia doesn’t recommend using it over <em>Sniper Elite 4</em>’s 3D Compatibility Mode profile. <em>For Honor</em> also got a similar treatment, with a 3D Compatibility Mode profile of its own.<br />
