Galaxy S8 Good And Bad News

<span style="font-weight: 400;">For months Galaxy S8 leaks brought nothing but good news. But following confirmation of its </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">bizarre fingerprint reader placement</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, a Samsung official has now delivered more bittersweet news…</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">   Speaking to Korean news outlet </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">News1</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">,
 an unnamed “senior Samsung official” revealed the Galaxy S8 and larger
Galaxy S8 Plus will have 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays respectively.
This is achieved through Samsung drastically cutting back the top and
bottom bezel sizes to squeeze these monstrous displays into chassis
roughly the same size as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.</span><br />

<span style="font-weight: 400;">News1’s information ties in with leak after leak we have seen </span><a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2017/01/13/samsung-galaxy-s8-design-images/" target="_self"><span style="font-weight: 400;">from case makers</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> who usually attain handset dimensions early so they can prepare their accessories.</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">That’s the good news, but the bad news
 is of real concern. According to the same official, News1 says Samsung
has decided to fit the Galaxy S8 with a 3000 mAh battery and the Galaxy
S8 Plus with a 3500 mAh battery. Both handsets were rumoured to have 250
 mAh more than this. </span><br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">And this is a problem. Why? Because
while their next generation Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets will be more
power efficient than last year, displays remain the number one drain on
battery life and they will be massive. Furthermore look at last year’s
phones: the 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 had a 3000 mAh battery and the 5.5-inch
Galaxy S7 Edge had a 3600 mAh battery. </span><br />

enough? Image credit: DforDesign</div>
</div>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Consequently Samsung will have to work
 some magic if the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus aren’t going to
disappoint customers who year-after-year </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">cite better battery life</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> as their number one request.</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">And this leaves me feeling a little
less optimistic about the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus than I did a few
weeks ago. We know the phones will look great, but: </span><br />

<li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unlocking will be a pain</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">
 to anyone without long fingers (there will be an iris scanning but it’s
 a three step process that is difficult to do on the move)</span></li>
<li>RAM is apparently unchanged at 4GB while rivals look at 6GB+</li>
<li>There’s been conspicuously little about camera upgrades (dual cameras are out) and now...</li>
<li>Battery life is worrying</li>
</ol>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">So while at launch I expect the Galaxy
 S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus to be the best phones on the market, with the
radical iPhone 8 / iPhone X and Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 coming
later this year, I do wonder for how long…</span>

checkout the amazing galaxy book launched by samsung

<br />
Samsung may not have unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S8 at the Mobile World
Congress, but Samsung has managed to release another stylish piece of
hardware. Samsung released two new hybrids and named them the ‘<strong>Galaxy Book</strong>‘.
 Samsung is really trying to compete with the Microsoft Surface Line and
 the Galaxy Book indeed has quite a few unique features up its sleeve.<br />
<br />
There are 10 and 12 inch variants of the Surface Book and both of
them are compatible with the new S-Pen that Samsung announced for its
Tab S3 and the Surface books.<br />
<img alt="Galaxy Book" class=" wp-image-10370 aligncenter     lazyloaded" data-lazy-sizes="(max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px" data-lazy-src="//devs-lab.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/galaxy-book-300x169.jpg" data-lazy-srcset="//devs-lab.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/galaxy-book-300x169.jpg 300w, //devs-lab.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/galaxy-book-150x84.jpg 150w, //devs-lab.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/galaxy-book.jpg 600w" height="235" src="https://devs-lab.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/galaxy-book-300x169.jpg" width="417" /><br />
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Display:</strong></span><br />
Samsung
 has always produced top-notch displays and the Galaxy Book is no
exception. The 12-inch model sports a 2160×1440 AMOLED panel which looks
 absolutely gorgeous. The display also has HDR support which gives a
wider colour gamut which makes images and videos look more vibrant and
richer. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 came out with a HDR display last year
and it made a night and day difference while watching content that
support HDR. Netflix and Amazon Prime video provide content with HDR
support enabled. Unfortunately, the 10-inch version of the Galaxy Book
comes with a full HD LCD panel, which does not support HDR.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Specifications:</strong></span><br />
<br />
This is one area where Samsung has done a very good job. Samsung has
made a product that maintains the portability aspect without sacrificing
 performance. Despite the 7.4mm slender profile, the 12-inch variant
sports an Intel Kaby Lake Core i5 processor, 4GB or 8GB of RAM and a
128GB or 256GB SSD. This configuration seems pretty promising
performance wise for a hybrid device with such a thin profile. However,
the 10-inch variant is powered by a Core M processor, which is still
acceptable for a laptop convertible.<br />
          The Galaxy Books sport a 30
and a 39 watt-hour-battery for the 10 and 12-inch variants respectively
which is not bad considering that these are portable devices. Samsung
claims to deliver 10 hours of battery life on a single charge and the
inclusion of fast charging makes it really impressive.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Software and Features:</strong></span><br />
The
 Galaxy Book runs on Windows 10 with a few extra features. The Galaxy
Book supports the new S-Pen, which can detect up to 4096 levels of
pressure with its fine 0.7mm nib. The S-Pen can now understand the angle
 at which it is being tilted and Samsung is really proud of this
feature. It believes that this feature can be really handy for artists
and designers. Samsung has included familiar S-Pen features like Air
Command shortcut and Screen off Memo.<br />
Samsung has added a new
feature and has named it ‘Flow’. This enables you get smartphone
notifications on your laptop screen. Flow also allows for easy transfer
of files between Samsung devices.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Verdict:</strong></span><br />
The
 12-inch variant clearly looks more of a worthy buy considering that it
has a better display, a slimmer profile and a much better processor.
Samsung has also added a few handy S-Pen features which make the devices
 more useful. However, all would depend on how Samsung optimises these
features. Sammy has not announced details regarding the pricing although
 it is expected to be priced similar to the Surface Book.

 Bixby is the new kid on the block of personal digital assistants and is
 likely to face a rough reception in a neighborhood dominated by tech

interaction easier, specifically designed to avoid the complexity of
increasingly fully-featured devices. Exclusively made available to
Samsung Galaxy S8 devices, but is designed to work across a range of
Samsung products.<br />

According
 to this report, Samsung Electronics and Display are targeting a
prototype device by the third quarter of this year. This is in order to
qualify the quality of a foldable smartphone concept for serial
production. This process will likely be focussed internally and in
partnership with bulk purchasers like mobile network providers. Upon
passing the standards of quality and performance backed with the market
being prepped for release of the device, Samsung will commence the
serial-production officially. If everything goes according to plan this
shall mean production shall commence some-time in 2018 depending on the
company’s production capacity and other product releases for the time
window.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Samsung is looking towards
making the device look and feel as premium and elegant as possible. With
 the focus being shifted to raising the bar with this device over its
regular flagship releases it has been reportedly shifted the production
of prototypes from Q1 this year to Q3. If that is indeed the case, it
will be in time for IFA 2017 in Berlin which traditionally is reserved
for Galaxy Note reveals. Alternately if details are thin, it might be
that Samsung will be pushing back the official reveal to CES or MWC
2018.</div>

Samsung is going to launch its flagship smartphones of 2017, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+ in an “unpacked” event in New York on March 29.
 The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+  from Samsung are already hyped to be the
 best smartphones to come in 2017 with its design and features. There
have been many leaks and rumors for the Samsung S8 and S8+ which make
the phone just left to be announced because mostly all the features of
this phone have been known to the public including a voice assistant,
near-bezelless display and sleek design.</div>
<br />
Now, One of the
features which was rumored to come with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and
S8+ and is believed to be its most promising feature is its <strong>Voice Assistant. </strong>This
 feature has been seemingly confirmed by Samsung itself. The name of the
 assistant was rumored to be Bixby and now we have confirmation that the
 Voice Assistant will indeed be called Bixby.<br />

 on the Samsung website clearly states “comandi vocali con Bixby”, which
 means “voice commands with Bixby” when translated into English. This
statement means that the Voice Assistant will be intelligent enough like
 the Google Assistant to perform appropriate actions on general
questions asked by the user.<br />
<br />
Bixby can be used to “control all
operations with the touch interface using voice commands,” the page
mentions. And as the page is for all Samsung mobile devices, it stands
to reason that the AI assistant will be utilised on future handsets
beyond the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and may even come to older flagship
devices if Samsung feels the need.<br />
<br />
Also worth noting is that, we
already know that the Samsung’s upcoming phones are the first to go on
sale with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, a near-bezelless design like
the LG G6 with the fingerprint scanner on the back. On the software
front, it will come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Touchwiz UI and Bixby
 Voice Assistant. Let’s hope that Samsung has something left in the bag
to announce for its phones on March 29.

LineageOS,
 the successor to the most popular open-source Custom Rom CyanogenMod
has already seen some success. The successor to the open-source ROM has
already been popular among the device tinkerers and last month it
already reached the 5,00,000 active installs milestone worldwide with
the most popular device being the OnePlus One.<br />
<br />
The community at
LineageOS is also very helpful and they publish every new change that
has happened to LineageOS in that week at the end of the week which they
 call it as ” Last week in LineageOS “. This is a blog post where the
team gives all the details of the code changes and the new features that
 have been added in the new builds of LineageOS. Also given in the blog
post is the list of devices that have been newly added to their already
huge build roster that consists of maintaining 125+ devices.Last week,
that is on the 6th of March, LineageOS community published one such
“Last week in LineageOS” post which had one big feature. That feature is
 the One-Hand Mode which is used to shrink the display size to 4, 4.5 or
 5 inches according to user’s needs to use the phone with ease. They
have also added a short video demonstrating the feature in action which
will give you the idea of how this feature works.<br />
The post states the following changes that happened in last week i.e since 27th Feb, 2017.<br />
<ul>
<li>Addon SU for LineageOS 13.0 is fixed (addon-su-13)</li>
<li>Single Hand Mode has arrived! (oneHand)<ul>
<li>This
 feature is enabled in all LineageOS 14.1 builds from 6th March 2017. To
 use it on devices with on-screen navigation buttons, swipe right or
left on the home button. On devices with hardware keys, you can set the
trigger for this mode in ‘Settings > Buttons’</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><h3 id="build-roster">

<ul>
<li><ul>

Nevertheless,
 this feature is very useful espescially for people with shorter hands
or if the phone is to be used only with One-Hand. LineageOS is already
on its way to become a hugely popular ROM which is offering stablility
and features to its users. We will keep you posted about other new
changes in LineageOS as we know about them. Stay tuned.<br />

 own features such as a Gionee logo and a dual rear camera system.<br />

T-Mobile Releases Out Update to the Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge smartphones

T-Mobile rolled out the last update to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge
model of smartphones something like a couple of months ago, and now,
they are back with yet another package for the users of this unit on
their network. This new update would hit the respective units as
G920TUVS5EQA2 and G925TUVS5EQA2 respectively, and coming in at a size of
 around 30MB, we don’t expect them to bring much.<br />
Taking a little peek at what they both do the updates are said to bring
on board the Android fixes for the month of December and January for the
 units.<br />
For now, it is hard to say if there is any other change that this update
 is supposed to effect, but considering the small size, we would not be
hurt if it doesn’t do more than just improve performance and stability
as a plus. If you find any other change in your update, do well to let
us know about it in the comment box. Thanks.

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is slated to arrive in late March,
but details continue to leak in a steady stream in the lead up to the
event. The latest dump of new info comes courtesy of <em>VentureBeat</em>’s Evan Blass, who <a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/search?q=samsung" target="_blank">posted the S8+ spec sheet on Twitter this afternoon</a>. The thing that should pop out is the monstrous 6.2-inch display size. </div>
<div id="G5nK7e">
Due to the S8’s rumored design, which drops physical
buttons in favor of drastically reduced bezels, the phone may not be
much larger than the Galaxy Note 7, which packed a 5.7-inch display into
 a 6.04-inch-tall device. <a href="https://badootech.blogspot.com.ng/search?q=samsung" target="_blank">Prior leaks containing photos of the device</a>
 back up the idea that the S8 will pack an edge-to-edge display that
allows for a drastic increase in screen real estate while retaining a
relatively compact form. </div>

<div id="SsEg71">
It’s unclear exactly how the S8+ will differ from the standard S8. Earlier leaks suggest
 the standard model may come with just a 5.7-inch display, while both
could carry a Snapdragon 835 processor, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a
 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The spec sheet does indicate that the
S8+ will have rounded corners on the display, an iris scanner for
biometric authentication, 64GB of storage, 4GB of memory, and Samsung’s
now-standard dust and water-resistant features.  </div>

<br />
OnePlus
 has always produced flagship smartphones at a fraction of the price.
The OnePlus 3T sported the Qualcomm 821 chipset and 6GB of RAM for just
$439 for the 64GB storage option and $479 for 128GB storage option. New
rumours claim that OnePlus 5 is no slouch either.If the latest rumours
are to be believed, the flagship killer smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch
 dual-curved edge AMOLED display.<br />
<br />
Although the resolution has not been
specified, we would not be surprised if OnePlus decides to stick with a
Full-HD display. The OnePlus 5 is expected to compete with the likes of
the Samsung Galaxy and the iPhone Edition.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The
 Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED
display. OnePlus 5’s display is not expected to be as good as the
Samsung’s panels but that may not mean that the display isn’t good. Both
 the Android flagship smartphones are expected to be powered by the
Snapdragon 835 SoC.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The OnePlus 5 is
expected to retain the 6GB of RAM from it’s predecessor. While 6 GB of
RAM may seem like an overkill, it ensures that the smartphone is future
proof. The flagship killer is expected to include 64GB and 128GB
configurations.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Earlier reports have
suggested that the OnePlus 5 may house a ceramic body like the Mi Mix
and ditch aluminium housing for an all glass design. Support for a
microSD card slot is also rumoured.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This
 year, OnePlus has really decided to challenge the flagships by checking
 all the boxes. The OnePlus 5 has been tipped to include IP68 water and
dust resistance. This was one feature that the OnePlus 3T lacked and
OnePlus has decided to fix it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The
Chinese company has decided to skip the number 4 as it is regarded as an
 unlucky number in China. The OnePlus 5 seems extremely solid on paper
and can definitely challenge the bigger names like the Samsung Galaxy S8
 and the LG G6.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While we don’t know
any details regarding pricing, we hope that the OnePlus 5 is priced
similar to how the 3T was last year. If OnePlus looks to compete in the
premium market, it may well not work out.</div>

In our <a href="https://devs-lab.com/one-plus-5-sport-dual-edge-curved-display-glass-body-4000mah-battery.html">previous reports</a>,
 we stated that OnePlus would be skipping the “4” in the next flagship
as the number is considered unlucky in China. Thus, the OnePlus 3T’s
successor might be christened the OnePlus 5. According to a new report
from KoreaPortal, the company is likely to announced the device in the
later half of Q2. It is speculated that the OnePlus flagship will be
packing more RAM and come in 64 GB and 128 GB variants while featuring
support for <strong>expansion via microSD</strong>. A first for the company’s flagship devices if that is indeed the case.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The
 design of the OnePlus 5 is supposed to take on design cues from the
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, with a curved 2.5D display and an aluminium and
glass based chassis. The same source also claims that it sports a
Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset. Please note that no such chipset has
been announced by Qualcomm, so it is speculative that it will either be
powered by a Snapdragon 821 or the newer 835 chipset. Although this
might mean further delay in its appearance as the initial batch of the
latter were earmarked for the Samsung Galaxy S8 (and S8+) serial
production. The device will reportedly be running the latest flavour of
Android, v7.0, Nougat with the light OxygenOS skin with added quality of
 life features.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With regards to its
camera, the OnePlus 5 is likely to retain its predecessor’s front camera
 while updating the rear camera to a 23-megapixel package. It is also
said to be running off of a 4000mAh battery with Dash Charge support
with a USB-C interface for peripheral connectivity and charging. As we
can see there are plenty of inconsistencies in this leak with mentions
of a Snapdragon 830 chipset which has not been announced till now. Hence
 we urge readers to hold out till more accurate information comes about.</div>

The Huawei P9 was one of my favorite phones of 2016,
combining rock-solid build quality with a minimalist design and a very
